Cristiano Ronaldo, the football superstar, has signed an exclusive multi-year nonfungible token (NFT) deal with cryptocurrency exchange Binance. Through global NFT initiatives, the cooperation hopes to introduce soccer fans to the Web3 environment.
Binance stated in a release provided to Cointelegraph that the arrangement includes the creation of a series of NFT collections with Ronaldo. The first collection will be available exclusively on the Binance NFT platform later this year.
Changpeng Zhao, the CEO and founder of Binance, lauded Ronaldo’s achievements in soccer, saying that the sportsman had “transscended sport to become an icon in numerous industries.” Zhao also stated:
“He has amassed one of the world’s most dedicated fan bases through his authenticity, talent and charity work.”
Zhao went on to say that the Binance team is pleased to provide Ronaldo fans with “unique engagement chances to connect with Ronaldo” since they possess parts of the NFT collections.
Meanwhile, the soccer superstar commented on the impending NFT releases, adding that fans will undoubtedly love them. Ronaldo also stated:
“My relationship with the fans is very important to me, so the idea of bringing unprecedented experiences and access through this NFT platform is something that I wanted to be a part of.”
Ronaldo was granted crypto tokens for his exploits in sports back in March. For each senior career goal scored, the soccer player received JUV tokens, the official fan token of Juventus F.C.
Despite the current crypto winter, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao voiced optimism earlier in June. Zhao stated confidently that this is his third crypto winter and Binance’s second brush with this type of market circumstance.
Meaning that the team understands how to handle a bear market. Aside from that, the Binance CEO stated that they will take advantage of the situation to acquire top people who are accessible at the time.
EX Sports to release its second Urbanball NFT collection
Following the success of its first NFT launch on Binance NFT, EX Sports is currently preparing to launch its second Urbanball NFT on the platform.
This time around, Urbanball is releasing ‘Belgium Edition’ street football NFTs. These NFTs will be released on June 24 at 11 a.m. UTC.
Urbanball NFTs will be given in randomised mystery box packs and will feature real-life street football competition winners from Brussels and Antwerp.
A total of 10,000 NFTs will be minted, with each Mystery Box costing only $25, a 50% discount from the first drop.
In addition, each mystery box will have either a character or talent card NFT. However, both of these NFTs need participation in the Urbanball play-to-earn street football game, which will be released later this year.
Character cards portray real-life street football players that won Urbanball 1v1 ‘fightball’ competitions in their respective nations to earn their spot in the drop and game.
Meanwhile, skill cards contain several football skills that can be employed to improve the performance of game characters!
